Even better, you can remove any drive in seconds and share or replace it with another.

Simply add IDE drives and trays whenever your storage requirements grow. The heart of these FireWire Hot-Swap Hard Drive Kits is unique bridge board technology that allows IDE drives to be inserted or removed while the computer is running and the power is on. The Hot-Swap Drive Kit and Trays operate very much like a floppy drive with the exception that the amount of storage is thousands of times larger.

3rd Generation 1394/IDE Native Bridge Board:
The FireVue 1394/IDE Native Bridge Board converts your IDE hard drive into a FireWire 400 hard drive.  This 1394/IDE bridge board features 3rd generation FireWire/IDE bridge technology chip and comes pre-installed in the FireVue Hot Swap Hard Drive Case.  The FireVue 1394/IDE Native Bridge Board is 1394a compliant and supports 1394 bus speeds of 100, 200 and 400 Mbit/sec (Mega bits per second) and sustained data transfer rates up to 40MB/sec.

Unlimited Storage and Data Protection
Use inexpensive IDE drives in the Hot-Swap Trays and dedicate as much storage as you need for backup, DV, AV, database application, and all other types of storage needs. Simply buy extra trays whenever you need them to use more drives.

ATA-6 Support
Supports true ATA-6 specifications for compatibility with IDE hard drives of any capacity, including the new larger drive mechanisms (up to 400 GB in size)!

Two 1394/FireWire ports:
Each Hot Swap Drive kit has two 1394/FireWire ports that allows daisy chaining up to 63 FireWire devices.  Two 1394/FireWire ports allow for one connection to the host computer and a second port for daisy chain connection of additional drives or other FireWire devices.

Hot Swappable:
Want to change hard drives? Just let your operating system know that you are removing the drive, turn the key lock and slide the hot swap tray out.  Slide the hot swap tray containing the new drive into the bay and turn the key lock...done.  The operating system will see the new drive and you are up and running!

All the Power you Need:
The 55 watt Power Supply is built-into the drive case. Just plug it into the wall with a normal power cord (included). No wall transformers.

Two Fans:
Dual cooling fans keep your drive cool and running smooth and quiet for thousands of hours.
